The fund has a flexible investment style and is not weighed down by an excess of rigid investment mantras. This means that the managers can be unconstrained by benchmarks, index weightings or geographical considerations.
Investment Process
We receive research material not only from analysts at Charles Stanley but also other brokerage houses. This ensures we can tick the necessary boxes relating to the accuracy of basic numbers that drive the financial performance both historically and prospective. We look for hints of "conservative accounting" as this invariably indicates that there is "gas in the tank" during hard times.
We also look at the quality of products and services that a company provides, assess the competition and the potential for development, i.e. prospects for growth. We are especially attracted to companies that have established a commanding presence in an industry or are well established in a sector where there are increasingly high barriers to entry.
